Episode Two: Encounter with the Transformers

SUMMARY

Picking up where the first episode left off, we learn that Guardshell was not thrown into the Grand Black Hole--which we knew because we saw him on Earth previously--but rather that Vector Prime sent him onward to Earth at the last minute. (That's an interesting power of his we begin to see in this episode: his sword can cleave space and time, and he can send anyone anywhere he wants.) Convoy agrees with Vector Prime that the map to the Planet Forces must be recovered, and sends some of his men to accompany the knight in pursuing Master Megatron. When they protest, claiming finding Guardshell is more important and challenging Convoy's belief in Vector Prime's story, Convoy replies that he will find Guardshell himself, and that he isn't sure he believes in the Planet Forces, but can't take the chance on Megatron getting hold of such a thing.
Back on Earth, Coby has decided to try to repair Guardshell, who is, understandably, heavily damaged. Lori and Bud lend a helping hand, in that they sit around basically doing nothing.
Convoy and Backpack lurk by the side of a road, where Backpack tries to find an Earth vehicle mode that suits him. Convoy is dismayed when he chooses, of all things, an armored assault vehicle. Backpack defends his reasons for his choice, and Convoy reluctantly relents. The two of them begin searching for info to find Guardshell.
In deep space, Master Megatron consults the map, and has a tantrum when he discovers it to be useless--until Starscream points out to him that the stars and planets move over time, and if the map is truly millions of years old, some recalculations need to be made. While they ponder this, the Autobots and Vector Prime show up. Megatron and Starscream basically paste them, and they retreat. Starscream wants to follow, but Megatron says to forget about them--they have more important business.
Back on Earth, while the kid brigade is working on Guardshell, some idiot hicks in the woods see his enormous footprints and decide there is some big critter roaming around that's fit for poaching, and promptly form a little hunting party to that end.
In the midst of all this going on, a new problem arises: Megatron's other flyboy, Thundercracker, is on Earth, and has taken an Earth fighter jet form, and is hunting down Guardshell. Galaxy Convoy shows up right about the time Thundercracker attacks--which incidentally sets the forest on fire. Thundercracker decides he's going to kill both of them (talk about delusional!), and begins an attack run. After an initial exchange of fire, Thundercracker decides fighting up close is not his thing, and takes off again for an aerial assault. Convoy is more than happy to oblige him, and the battle continues in the sky. After screwing around a bit, he goes Super Mode, and blows Thundercracker back to wherever the hell he came from with a shot from the Galaxy Cannon. Then he loads his cannon up with water from the lake and uses it to put out the forest fire (hey, he IS a fire truck...) so that the kids and the poachers don't burn to death. What a swell guy. The rest of the Autobots rendezvous with them on Earth, where introductions are made between the kids and the Autobots. As the Autobots try to decide what to do next, Vector Prime notices that an emblem on Lori's shirt looks similar to the "Chip Square" that's connected to a Planet Force--a clue that one of the four Planet Forces might be on Earth.

ANALYSIS

This episode was a lot more fun than the first one. We learned a few new things, got some amusing scenes, and got some very familiar and classic robot fighting action. And unlike the last time Convoy was a fire engine, Galaxy Convoy demonstrates that he packs total badassness AND mad rescue vehicle skillz all in one super-industrial-strength package. All in all, a good episode.
