SUMMARY AND ANALYSIS

A mysterious star in the sky next to the moon, which only a select handful can see. Mysterious monsters, mysterious powers, mysterious people doing mysterious things, all centered on a mysterious place.

The number of cliches in the formula are daunting.

They also don't make a damn bit of difference.

Mai-HiME is what happens when Shoujo Kakumei Utena and Shinseiki Evangelion have a baby, and it turns out to be a mahoushoujo anime. That's really the best way I can think of to sum this one up. People born with unusual abilities thrust into situations they know nothing about by those who have the knowledge and are determined to hold onto the power that knowledge provides, mysterious creatures with no discernable origins causing havoc, organisations moving against each other with hapless pawns and innocent bystanders caught in the middle...

Oh, and a whole assload of fanservice.

Lurker's rating for Mai-HiME: 10/10.
